About Paralympics Tonga

About Us

The Tonga National Paralympic Committee (TNPC), known as Paralympics Tonga, is Tonga’s National Paralympic Committee and a recognised member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

We are committed to promoting, developing, and strengthening Para sport in Tonga, creating opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sport, develop their athletic potential, and pursue pathways to national, regional, and international competition.

Paralympics Tonga works collaboratively with national sports federations, disability organisations, athletes, coaches, technical officials, and other partners to build an inclusive and sustainable Para-sport system. We aim to increase participation, strengthen the capacity of sporting organisations, support athlete development, and promote the values of the Paralympic Movement, including courage, determination, inspiration, and equality.

As an IPC member, TNPC is responsible for upholding applicable IPC requirements, policies, codes, and regulations. We also promote good governance, athlete welfare, fair competition, appropriate classification practices, safeguarding, and inclusive sporting environments.

TNPC is an incorporated society governed by its Constitution. Our governance structure provides a framework for accountability, decision-making, member participation, and the continued development of Paralympic sport in Tonga.

Membership

Paralympics Tonga brings together organisations and stakeholders committed to advancing Para sport and disability inclusion in Tonga. Our members play an important role in developing sporting opportunities, supporting athletes, and strengthening the national Para-sport system.

Membership is governed by the TNPC Constitution and applicable membership regulations. Eligible members may include national sports federations that govern Paralympic sports, organisations involved in sports recognised by the IPC or relevant international federations, and sporting organisations that actively support the inclusion and development of athletes with disabilities.

Disability organisations, athlete representatives, and other stakeholders also contribute to the wider Paralympic movement through collaboration, advocacy, and support for inclusive sport.

Members have rights and responsibilities in accordance with their membership category and the TNPC Constitution. These may include participation in General Assembly meetings, voting where eligible, contributing to organisational decisions, and supporting TNPC’s objectives, policies, and standards of good governance.

All members are expected to uphold the values of the Paralympic Movement and comply with applicable TNPC requirements and relevant IPC or international federation rules. Together, we work to promote athlete welfare, fair competition, accessibility, integrity, and equal opportunities in sport.

As Para sport continues to grow in Tonga, Paralympics Tonga welcomes collaboration with sporting organisations, disability groups, athletes, and partners who share our vision of a more inclusive and sustainable sporting future.
